FOREARM & UPPER-EXTREMITY CARE • LAKELAND, FLORIDA

Forearm Surgeon in Lakeland, FL

Specialized care for forearm fractures, tendon injuries, nerve problems and conditions that cross the wrist and elbow.

Forearm care from an upper-extremity specialist

Devin W. Collins, DO is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in Hand, Upper Extremity and Microvascular Surgery. His practice focuses on the hand, wrist, forearm and elbow, including injuries and conditions that involve more than one region of the upper extremity.

Forearm fractures and trauma

Forearm injuries can involve the radius, ulna, wrist, elbow, tendons, nerves and surrounding soft tissues. Evaluation may include X-rays and additional imaging when needed to define fracture alignment, joint involvement and associated injuries. Treatment can range from immobilization to surgical fixation depending on the injury.

Nerve and tendon conditions

Nerves and tendons travel through the forearm between the elbow and hand. Compression, laceration, trauma or tendon injury can produce pain, numbness, weakness or loss of motion. Treatment is based on the location and severity of the problem and may include nonsurgical care, decompression, repair or reconstruction when appropriate.

When to seek evaluation

Persistent forearm pain, weakness, numbness, loss of rotation, deformity or symptoms after an injury are reasons to consider orthopedic evaluation. Severe trauma, open wounds, major deformity or circulation concerns require prompt medical attention.
